Thank you for considering CDC Pools to redo your pool. This page will equip you with some questions to ask the contractors you interview, give you an introduction to CDC, help you set realistic expectations, and give you an idea of what to expect.

What we do

We resurface the interior surface of your pool. We offer Baja Pebble, our own patented pebble surface, plaster/quartz, and ecoFINISH, for which we are the exclusive Arizona applicator for this new, beautiful, eco-friendly surface.

We also replace tile, decking, plumbing, electrical, and equipment. We offer water features, lighting and digital controls.

And finally, we’re one of the only contractors in Arizona that does structural repairs with a state-of-the-art methods.

Why we’re different

We specialize in pool remodeling. We built the company in 1990, from the ground up, to remodel pools. Remodeling is very different than new construction. New pools are cookie-cutter. Remodeling means you regularly uncover and need to fix every mistake and shortcut made by the literally 100s of pool companies that have come and gone in Arizona.

We hire better people and have more people in the field troubleshooting jobs than contractors twice our size (see “every mistake and shortcut made” above!!).

Our owners are construction guys. They’re the first ones here early each morning and in the field every day.

We use our own crews on practically every step of the remodeling process. And we keep our crews all year. Most contractors hire extra crews during the busy season and lay them off when it slows down. We don’t, and it shows in loyalty and craftsmanship. Think about it; every step of the remodeling process is handwork. Done by craftsmen. It might be easy to look out in your backyard and see laborers. But our guys are often second-generation plasterers, tile setters, plumbers, and electricians.

Four questions to ask each contractor you interview

  • What part of your business is remodeling?

Most new pool companies have remodeling divisions. For some, it’s a secondary priority. Make sure you know. At CDC, we built our company from the ground up in 1990 for remodeling and interior resurfacing pools. It’s all we do.

  • What parts of the remodeling process are done with your own crews, and what parts do you subcontract out?

While there’s nothing inherently wrong with subbing work out, the more you use your own crews, the more control you have over quality. We subcontract deck work, but well over 90% of our work is done by our own crews.

  • What is your warranty (materials AND labor)?

Many warranties only cover materials. Make sure you ask about labor. Who cares if the pebbles are warrantied for 20 years (or 200 years)?? Our warranty covers materials AND labor.

  • Do you have a showroom?

Some pool remodeling contractors operate out someone's garage. A showroom is a great place to see color samples, but it's also a good sign the contractor is for real. The same goes for their equipment and trucks. Do they use their own? Ask us for a tour!

Communication and expectations

You need to tell us how you want us to communicate with you; email, text, or phone. Which method is the most reliable way you’ll get a message saying we’ll be out tomorrow or we’re running late today and might not make it?  And who, you or your spouse or partner, is the primary contact on the project?

Please understand, pool remodeling is major construction. And  schedules are fluid. This is more of an issue during the busy season (Jan – July). Every time we chip out a surface or uncover plumbing or pull tile or do virtually anything we do, we can potentially get surprised by what we find. We’ll do our best to communicate with you as things change.

The work we do for you is done by hand. Virtually all of it. Interior surfaces are hand troweled. Tile is laid and grouted by hand. Mistakes we can fix. Imperfections will always be part of this type of construction.

We’re going to be “in this together”. If we can both work at communicating, if we’ve been straight with you about setting expectations, we can do good work for you without the process being hard on either party. And long after the dust settles it will be work both of us can be proud of. In fact, the majority of our customers are referrals and repeat customers. Some, we are proud to say, are the kids of people we’ve worked with in the past.
