How Much Does It Cost?

Many people come here wondering how much it costs to remodel a pool.

  • How much does it cost to resurface my pool?
  • How much does decking, new tile, updated equipment, etc., cost?

And, your questions are reasonable ones. However, without knowing something about your pool’s size and the scope of the project (do you also want tile, decking, equipment, etc.?), it’s hard to put a meaningful cost estimate on a page like this.

But there are some things we can tell you that may help, though.

There are basically three types of interior surfaces for your pool: plaster/quartz finish; pebble; and ecoFINISH, an entirely new surface-

  • Plaster, of course, is your least expensive option. It also has the shortest service life and, Realtors tell us, replastering your pool doesn’t add to the value of your home. A dollar spent is a dollar spent!
  • Pebble will last about twice as long as regular plaster and is not quite double the cost. And, Realtors tell us you can add about fifty cents to the value of your home for every dollar you invest in pebble. (We won’t go into how much nicer pebble is than plaster here, that’s for other parts of the site.)
  • ecoFINISH is a finish you may not have even heard of. It is a polymer-based interior surface with some extraordinary features and benefits. You can learn about those here. But for now, know that ecoFINISH is about 20-60% more than pebble, but worth every penny in our humble opinion.

And how old is your pool? Here’s where it can get complicated:

You may have issues with your plumbing, electrical, or equipment. Based on simple age, poor craftsmanship, or things you want to add that stress the system, you may need replacements or upgrades that add to the cost of your project. Think of these things as the engine and transmission of your 15-year-old car. A new paint job and interior are great, but you’d better take a look at these things just to make sure there won’t be surprises later.

Equipment has come a long way. We have pumps that basically pay for themselves in a few years, automatic sanitizing systems that practically remove the need and expense of chlorine, and automation systems that simplify the care and operation of your pool. Plus, water features, beautiful decking options, and pool lighting that is more light show than pool light.

Okay, that’s still not really answering your questions. Here’s the best way to answer your question regarding how much we cost. Most people get three or so bids. Generally, we’re about in the middle. When we’re high, it’s usually because we’re recommending more work be done; more plumbing, fixing electrical or adding to the size of a pump or filter to handle a water feature, as an example.

Okay, okay, still not satisfied? You’re really looking for a number?? Guess we can't blame you...

Our average size job for an interior surface is about $7,500. Need tile replaced? Waterline tile starts at about $950, again, for an average size pool. Decking is difficult to estimate, based on the size of your deck and material.
